What's up y'all,
it's me again, the person who endlessly talks about what they’re doing every week, here to tell you what I did last week. Let's start looking at last week's priorities, namely scanning folders of paperwork, cleaning, and working on my game.
I'm down to the last folder, but I couldn't get myself to scanning the last one yet...
The cleaning I did was only surface level, but I did it. The cleaning inspired me to build more sophisticated storage systems. More on that later...
I did it! I finished my game so far. Maybe, am I overhyping it, I have been able to release a fully working alpha-build I'm happy to share. Last week, I added the next piece display and a better high score system which now saves locally. Further, I added the missing end screen and added acceleration of falling blocks.
For a conclusion to this project, I want to say that I spend way too much time working on it, given that it was a relatively small project. I think, I exaggerated the scope of the project and as a result procrastinated too often.
As of today's title, Procrastination-Productivity, was I very productive doing things I didn't even plan to do…
I wrote 3 small blog posts. It's just that my blog website wouldn't build, I have to check that.
I had a really interesting, in-depth conversation over a couple of hours with someone I hadn't really talked much with before.
I spend a large amount of every spare time I had trying to visualize a 4th spacial dimension, as I thought that 4D-TicTacToe would be funny. There are two good mental models I found for visualizing…
One, is the stack of cards method, where one imagines a 3D object like a cube drawn on a 2D plane, a card for example. Then, the 3rd special dimension is free for imagining it as the 4th.
The other, involves limiting the size of your 3-dimensions to maybe a 3x3x3-TicTacToe-Cube and then drawing another axis between many of those cubes. It then just takes practice to have that new axis intuitively feel like a new spacial dimension instead of just a vector in 3D-space.
I also had the idea of creating a program to easily emulate the behavior of the DVD-logo-bounce with a specified screen size, speed, direction-vector, and image.
Furthermore, I imaged a web app to easily compose a CV that is suited for the specific job and firm one is applying for. This involves the user, however, writing lines describing their previous jobs and what not...
All of those projects are interesting, but I probably won't act on any of them next. My next programming project will probably be an old idea, a web app, which should easily illustrate family relationships which are implied through names like third cousin twice removed or something.
I won't do this this week, however, my priorities for next week are...
Scanning all the pages from the last folder...
Going to the activity I mentioned a few weeks back, which will have me spend a lot of time over the next months.
Building some shelves and a beamer rack from a few planks I got lying 'round.
Ole370’s Weekly Report will return next week…
